Things are normally calm in Nokomis, Illinois but when i hit the road, there is never a dull moment. This great adventure started in November when I ran into the William Brothers, owners of the Big Bud 747 tractor. They told me about a Big Bud reunion that was going to take place in Havre, Montana in December. This had my attention and I just knew I had to be there. And so the adventure begins.
I called my Travel Leaders travel agent and discovered the closest airport was 110 miles from Havre. after just completing the first issue of Heritage Iron, I was in dire need of a break. So i decided to travel by Amtrak, which would take me right into Havre, Montana. I love ridding on the train so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine business and a vacation. I reserved a sleeper so I could rest up and work on the 25-hour trip.
I started packing a week early because I just couldn't wait. When I arrived at the first train station in Carlinville, IL, I realized that I had left my wireless card to my laptop at home. It's a sad fact, but there was no way I could be gone for a week without my internet and the station was an hour from home.
