| News Title | Issue # 28: Dave's Olivers |
| Each year the Prairie Land show held in Jacksonville, Illinois is one of the last of the antique tractor show's summer season. The grounds itself offers a myriad of activities with a barn filled with museum quality pieces, a flea market and the beloved ham and bean dinner. Each year the club features a tractor and this year it was International Harvester. During their Prairie and Heritage Days, you saw IH from several clubs but for Dave Fleming of Carthrage, Illinois, it was Oliver all the way. Other may have hauled red, but for Dave, it was green, Oliver green. "I grew up on Oliver tractors. I still have Dad's tractor, he bought it new,"Dave said. Dave's father, James Fleming purchased both an Oliver 66 and w88 when they first rolled off the show room floor. The tractors made an impact on Dave because he kept them and has been adding to the collection ever since. While he grew up on a farm, Dave took another career path. He drove a truck and acted as a long distance trucker. One advantage to this lonely job was that over the years he has come across some pretty amazing tractors. He brought two of those amazing tractors to Jacksonville's Prairie Land show. To read more about Dave and his tractors please read Issue #28 |
